I love the way that John's female relatives crop up in your stories. It goes a long way to explaining just why John doesn't have trouble with a boss because she is a woman, and why he doesn't blink twice at Teyla warrior prowess. He's used to strong women, it's his default expectation, and it shows.

John's grandmother and mother were both pretty awesome, if I'm allowed to say that about my OCs--although honestly, it doesn't feel like I created them. More like they marched into my head and informed me of who they were and that they'd be staying for a while.

But just as they're the reason why he's perfectly comfortable with Elizabeth and Teyla (and later, Sam Carter), they're also why he "never sees it coming"--their relationships with John's father and grandfather were based on trust and love and respect, and so John is completely flummoxed by women who use their looks to get what they want (especially when that's John).
