can you cause a distraction? a BIG one? Do you know who really did the crime? can you point them in that person's direction? Can you give your person time to clear the computer or a tip off a little earlier in the story?

If you're in a country without a strong judicial system where rights aren't exactly sacred, corruption is a strong possibility. You could offer up a bribe of some sort. Offer up money or some other valuable trinket to buy your way out of it.

Does the character have something else of value to offer? If it's a lax judicial system, then perhaps a bribe of somekind would work. Or he/she could offer up some much needed info.

Otherwise, you may be screwed.
