Aliya Bulkan (August 26, 1986 - November 07, 2009)
I met Aliya when I was in my first year of 6th form. We had a lot in common and we just different enough to avoid too much conflict. We lost touch when she left for university at the end of that year. I've been looking for her on Facebook, Twitter and everywhere else for the past three years. i've known aliya since i was 7. and you're right she was brilliant and beautiful, although i don't think she always believed the latter. the aliya i knew was also talkative lol and confident as all hell which is why this is so mind-boggling to me. we were in touch during my first two years here in canada so her 2nd and 3rd years at stonybrook I guwess. and she seemed so happy with life. she told me about how involved she was getting with campus activities and how she felt like she was finding her niche.
i honestly can't even begin to guess what might have gone wrong between then and now but i am so so sad that something did.
we wrote a book together in 1st form lol. it was the cheesiest thing ever- sweet valley high-esque . but she was so passioate about it and so talented. i will never forget her.
it is a tragedy that the world will never know her because i am so certain she was destined to have a great influence on it.
R.I.P. Aliya- you will be missed
