Aaagh! LJ ate my entry up.

In point form:

Holidays are great - I've not moaned for ten days, and if I have - it's been results anxiety & the weather (too hot!).
Rebels & Martyrs at the National Gallery is ace - it's nice to see something in thematic rather than chronological/stylistic order.
Neal's Yard are too expensive but their pumpkin & polenta pie ( Read more... )

The Crabtree is a great place to drink - perhaps a river londonpubcrawl would be a plan @ some point?

I think Jo is starting to arrange the next one now, so you could suggest it to her. That said, wouldn't a river pub crawl basically be the District Line? Also some of the stops on those lines are bereft of decent pubs (i.e. Temple)

A better bet might be a walking route, which occasionally crosses the river depending on where the better bars are? Start on the south, a few pubs along the river, cross a bridge, a few pubs on the north side of the river, back across to the south?

I think we'll have to walk to get most of the decent ones in. Also, a few of them are inaccessible from the river (e.g. a wall as a barrier), so u'd have to walk around 'em, climb up from the towpath and walk parallel to what you just did to get to the pub.

The Fabian Society have lots of interesting things to say

Are you coming to the party tomorrow? Fabians haven't really always lived up to their potential - I left about five years ago, though I've rejoined since I moved to London and it's worth it because of events and so on - there's the nutter contingent and more problematically the networkers who are there for what they can get, not what they can contribute. Still, the principle is good.

Sounds interesting. Shame I'm actually a) scared of boat parties and b) waiting for a washing machine 'til 10pm tomorrow!

Thanks though - for this and the Singer article.

I will go away and think about that one now :)

The Crabtree was great, but I think I saw a notice on the door saying it was closing next week for two months' refurbishment.
