Kyuhyun couldn't sleep that night, he sat up on his bed and crossed his knees looking out the window. He couldn't understand why Sungmin hated him so much. To top it off, Sungmin was suddenly extremely nice to him. Kyuhyun couldn't help but feel as if Sungmin was planning something. Feeling frustrated at how things had turned out, Kyuhyun got up from his bed, opened the bedroom door and stepped out into the darkness. He groped the wall, feeling around for the light switch before flicking it on. Kyuhyun was walking down the stairway when he noticed a black figure moving around outside Sungmin's garden. Kyuhyun crept towards the door, careful not to make loud noises. Once he had hid himself behind the curtain at the door, he poked his head out from behind the curtain to peep outside. The figure was walking about and off and on would bend down to do something. Kyuhyun figured that it was one of the staff Sungmin had hired to maintain the garden. Feeling bored, Kyuhyun decided to have a chat with the staff outside. As Kyuhyun got closer to the garden, he noticed that it was Sungmin's good friend,Donghae who was gardening. "Donghae-ssi!" Kyuhyun called out to let his presence be known. Turning around, Donghae flashed his torchlight in the direction of the voice and waved. When Kyuhyun reached the flowerbed Donghae was standing beside, Donghae put the watering can he was holding, down on the floor and motioned to the patio beside the daffodils. Nodding, Kyuhyun headed to the patio and grabbed a seat. "What are you doing up at this time, Kyuhyun-ssi?" Donghae questioned as he took a seat on the chair beside Kyuhyun's. "I was up the whole night thinking of something.. I couldn't sleep." Kyuhyun replied, looking out at the flowers that swayed with the cool breeze. "Thinking about.. Young master?" Kyuhyun looked at Donghae with an expression that seemed to be questioning and shocked at the same time. "I can tell you really care for young master" Donghae quickly added. "I do. But he doesn't realise. He seems to think of me as a bad guy and he's always trying to make life tough for me. I dont get it." Donghae chuckled, much to Kyuhyun's surprise. "Have you asked yourself what you've done? Maybe something that you think he doesn't know about?" Donghae suggested, emphasizing on the "think". Kyuhyun shook his head violently. " I've not done anything.. Not yet.." Kyuhyun said the last part in a whisper. "He heard you." Donghae suddenly said. "Your conversation with Mr.Lee senior." Kyuhyun turned to face Donghae, suddenly looking worried. "In the studyroom that day? Mr.Lee senior? What he told you.. Or rather what he hired you to do?" Kyuhyun gasped loudly. He had never realised that Sungmin was eavesdropping. "That.. I was hired because Mr.Lee senior wanted me to make Sungmin disappear from the eyes of the public.. He told me to do whatever I had to do. Whether I had to hurt Sungmin, toy with his feelings... Or even kill him, I just had to make him regret he was ever born." Donghae nodded slowly, processing whatever Kyuhyun had just said in his mind. "I know about what you had to do. Sungmin knows too. That's why he's treating you like that. It's Sungmin's way of protecting himself. And he's also taking revenge in the process. But I can also see that you're slowly trying to protect him as well. You pity him, Kyuhyun. I can see that. You are deliberating whether to protect him or do what you were hired to do. But I trust that you'll make the right choice. Follow your heart, your heart knows best." With that said, Donghae got up from his chair and headed towards the door. Kyuhyun was still seated on his chair, trying to make sense of the conversation he just had with Donghae. So Sungmin had known all along, but why hadn't he confronted Kyuhyun about it. Maybe if he had confronted Kyuhyun, Kyuhyun could have taken the chance to explain himself. But he chose to pretend he didn't know, what was Kyuhyun supposed to do about that?
Kyuhyun knew what he wanted. He knew what his heart wanted. And that was to protect Sungmin against all odds. But if Mr.Lee senior found out, what would he do? It was risky and he wasn't sure yet whether he was willing to take such a risk all for one guy who treated him like crap. If Mr.Lee senior found out that Kyuhyun had turned against him, Kyuhyun may lose his life and no one would ever know. Kyuhyun was willing to bet that Mr.Lee senior had killed many people. He hired hitmans to do the dirty job. But the hitman he hired did such a perfect job at murdering that no one knew that someone had actually died. Mr.Lee would say that the guy had left the country for a business trip and somehow he never cameback. That was all there was to it, end of story. Kyuhyun was afraid that he'd be one of them.He couldnt risk it. Sighing in frustration, Kyuhyun slammed his fist on the table and got up from his seat. He walked further into the garden and chose a spot beside the flowers to lie down. He needed to clear his mind. But how? There was just too many things going on in his life. "What the hell am I supposed to do?!!!" He screamed outloud, releasing some anger that had built up inside him. Plucking a rose from the flower bed, he decided to leave his decision to fate. "Yes,No,Yes,No..." He plucked the petals out one by one till there was only one petal left. He wished he hadn't decided to let fate decide for him. It was a wrong choice. But now that he had started, he had to continue. "Yes" Kyuhyun plucked the last petal off from the rose and lay down to look up at the sky. He got the answer he dreaded most:"Yes". Yes he'd follow the original plan. Which meant hurting the person he wanted badly to protect but he just couldn't. Giving one last sigh of frustration, Kyuhyun pounded his fist against the flowerbed, screaming in frustration, before slowly drifting off to sleep. All the anger and frustration in him was draining the energy away from him and he soon fell fast asleep amongst the flowers, throwing caution to the wind
