Sungmin felt his chest getting tighter by the second. His heart was straining to beat. He didn't think that he would die this way. But there didn't seem to be any hope for him to live was there? Kyuhyun was holding his medication bottle and Sungmin needed that medication urgently.Just when he closed his eyes prepared to die for sure, he felt something being forced down his throat. He opened his eyes to see Kyuhyun grabbing the cup of water from Sungmin's bedside table. Sungmin instantly opened his mouth a little so that water could enter. Though he was half unconscious, Sungmin could tell very well that it was Kyuhyun who had saved him. Kyuhyun picked Sungmin up from the floor and carried him to his bed. He made sure that Sungmin's head was against the pillow before he placed the blanket over him. "Rest well, sir... I'll place your medicine bottle on the bedside table in case you need it." Kyuhyun said before excusing himself from the room to fetch Sungmin another glass of water. When kyuhyun got back to the room, Sungmin had already fallen asleep. Kyuhyun sat by the bed to watch over Sungmin. He couldn't leave Sungmin alone, not when Sungmin had almost died. He didn't want anything bad to happen to Sungmin. Kyuhyun knew about Sungmin's condition. And as absurd as it seemed, Kyuhyun truly wanted to make Sungmin happy. He didn't want to hurt Sungmin like what he was hired to do, instead, he wanted to be there for Sungmin.
Kyuhyun knew that Sungmin had doubted him previously and it hurt him, seeing how his master did not trust him. He knew that Sungmin had overheard his conversation with Sungmin's father. So, he decided that he would do whatever it takes him to ensure that Sungmin lived long and well. He was going to make Sungmin happy, he was going to let Sungmin feel loved.
Sungmin opened his eyes and slowly sat up careful not to make any sudden movements. He noticed that Kyuhyun had fallen asleep beside him and he didn't want to wake him up. He looked at kyuhyun's sleeping face taking in every detail. "He looks like an angel when he's asleep" Sungmin thought to himself. 'Maybe he's not as bad as i made him out to be.." What bothered Sungmin was why Kyuhyun had saved him when he could have easily took the opportunity to kill him. He knew that people hired by his dad either wanted him dead or they needed to hurt him. Why then, did Kyuhyun save him? "Why did you save me, you idiot. You're supposed to hurt me. You had the perfect opportunity there moron." Sungmin told the sleeping Kyuhyun. Sungmin covered Kyuhyun with the blanket before he tiptoed out of the room, careful not to wake the sleeping Kyuhyun. Sungmin closed his room door gently before he headed to the bookroom. Sungmin walked past the servant's dorm rooms and noticed that Donghae's room door was open. He gently knocked on the door, pushing it open a little more. "Come in! .. Oh! Young master!" Donghae immediatly bowed after realizing that the young master had walked in. "Spare me the formalities,Donghae. We've been friends for so long and yet you still greet me as young master." Sungmin pouted. "Sorry young.. Sungmin!" Donghae smiled awkwardly. Donghae and Sungmin had been friends ever since young, Donghae entered the mansion when he was 10 years old and Mrs.Lee had always treated Donghae as one of her sons as he got along really well with Sungmin and Sungjin. The three of them were as close as brothers until recently when Sungmin's father had hired Kyuhyun. Sungmin had realised that they weren't as close as they used to be and he really wanted to bridge that gap. Seeing that Donghae wasn't busy at the moment, Sungmin felt that he should find out why Donghae had been avoiding him. Sungmin walked to the lounge chair by the balcony and plopped himself down, he turned to face Donghae with a serious face. "Donghae.. Why have you been avoiding Sungjin and I? Is it because of something we did? If we had offended you in any way, please do forgive us. But i really miss hanging out with you." Donghae looked away, feeling guilty. Sungmin had sounded so sincere and he didn't want to break a fragile heart like his. "I.. It has nothing to do with you. It's me. Sungmin, when we were young, we played together, bathed together and studied together.. We did almost everything together. But now that we're older, i can't treat you like how i used to. I'm a servant, sir. I'm not good enough to be your friend." Sungmin felt hurt. Donghae was the bestest friend he'd had and hearing Donghae say things like that, really broke his heart. "It doesn't have to be this way. You never used to care about what others thought of us. Does status matter so much,Donghae? You've changed.. You really have. But i just want you to know that no matter what happens, you'll still be the Donghae who faces the world with a smile. To me, our friendship will never change, it will be kept right here. In my heart. Sungmin said, pointing to his heart before walking out of the room.
Donghae plopped himself down on his bed, feeling guilty for treating his bestfriend like that. But what could he do? Sungmin's father had recently warned Donghae to stay away from Sungmin or else he would be kicked out of the house. Donghae knew about the plan Mr.Lee senior had in mind for Sungmin and Kyuhyun and he wished he could do something to help, but one wrong move from him and there goes his job. It wasn't that Donghae really needed that job, he only wanted to keep it so that he could watch over Sungmin and secretly help him. Donghae was always the one protecting Sungmin behind the scenes. As much as he didn't want to admit, Donghae had fallen for Sungmin over the years and Donghae didn't want to see the person he loved get hurt over and over. Donghae didn't mind how Sungmin had failed to realise that the one helping him all along was none other than himself, he was contented whenever he could keep Sungmin safe and happy. But now he was told to stay clear of Sungmin. Donghae reassured himself that he could avoid contact with Sungmin and still help him behind the scenes, it wasn't so bad afterall.
