Is there anyone who loves the WB tour more than me? I don't know. I'm pretty obsessed with them. Though copperboom is becoming quite addicted and wanting to go lots of times. I wish I didn't have school in the way. Again the tour guide said we should become guides, and I'm just like "I'd love to if I lived closer and didn't have school!" I could rock some Gilmore centric tours. And I've always wanted to drive a golf cart, lol. Anyway!
You guys know the drill by now :)
I left my house really early again. 6am. I was afraid I'd be late or something. You never know with traffic. But things kept moving nicely and I got there just after 7. Ha, the parking lot dude wasn't even there yet so I parked on the street until he got there and then I parked in the lot. I was sitting in my car when I saw copperboom and her friend walk by so I called out to them and we all went up to the door. It wasn't open yet either, lol. So we had to wait outside a few minutes until they opened at 7:30. We were just hanging out in the little Starbucks area. I saw our favorite tour guide at the desk so I went to ask him if he was working today. He had to work the desk today so we couldn't snag him. Bummer. But I told him we're coming back on April 12th and he better be doing tours then. Hee. Rebecca was a little late getting there so we signed up for the 9am tour. Chatting and waiting.
Then it was time for our tour. I saw Robbie sometime during the day, but he wasn't doing the movie for us today. Sad. So we watched the WB movie for the 5th time or so and then the tour guides came busting in the door all dramatically. It was funny. We ended up with the guide I had on
my very first tour. There were three other people with us so that wasn't too bad. It was sprinkling when we went outside, but it stopped as we started out. I can't remember where went first. Oh wait, through the NY streets or whatever it's called. The street that they used in a bunch of movies and everyone has been on. That one, lol. Looked at the water tower and saw Matt LeBlanc's parking spot again. And also Tommy Schlamme's. I had no idea who that was so Rebecca had to tell me. Heh.
Went over to the ER ambulence bay next. There was a hole in the sign, and the glass windows you can see through the crack in the door were busted. Goes along with those gunshots other people heard a couple weeks ago I'm sure. Heh. I was taking so many random pictures today. Just because it's fun. Like, "look a steam pipe" "random parking sign" "the ground, sure". Ha.
Stars Hollow next. Wheeee. We knew they weren't filming Gilmore Girls today, but that's ok. It's still fun. We all took off from the cart and gave the guide a run for his money trying to corral us. I love Stars Hollow. We went in the church [[where they had some remnants from Lane's wedding. I stole a dying flower. They had a bunch of random N'sync and Backstreet Boy posters in there, lol. I don't think they were for the wedding, but looked like they might've been from Rory's room at the mansion since they were all framed. Seems weird that they would still have those around. Very random]]. We went down the residential street and I was looking in one of the houses. [[There was a sign for "Truncheon Books" and a bunch of packing stuff and trash around. I thought of Jess's bookstore first thing. No idea if that even has anything to do with it. Just my random guess. I don't think we know the name of his store do we? I need to watch the promo again to see if it even looks similar. But that was my random idea. It could've been for anything. ETA: I just checked the promo and that is totally Jess' bookstore. You can see the staircase and the corner of the sign. Rock on. I'm good]]. We went through Sookie's house and out of Lorelai's. Saw the beloved chuppah (the tour guide was wondering why they hadn't gotten rid of it yet and I'm like *gasp* "Because it's the chuppah! They can't get rid of the chuppah!") The Jeep, boat, gnomes and all that was out. And we peeked around the corner to see the other Jeep and Rory's car. The band's van was out there too. Fun.
Drove over to the Warner Village and jungle area. I hadn't been there since my first tour. And I finally, FINALLY, saw the GG production office. Heh. I saw the side of a blue house and I'm like "OOh!" We drove by it and everything. Yay. Love seeing at least one new thing with every trip down. We saw the Invasion swamp area. They died the water green. And turned Lorelai and Rory's potting shed into the ranger station. Heh. I watch that show too.
I think we drove by the White House outdoor set and some of the soundstages. Someone needed to use the bathroom so we stopped somewhere and as we were there waiting a car pulls up and a woman talks to our tour guide and says that we can stop by since their call time wasn't until 3pm. So we're all just like "huh?" and he tells us that she's a producer for
Studio 60 on the sunset strip. So we drove over and not only did we get to go in and look around the set, but the producer showed us around herself. Much awesomeness. Studio 60 stuff, not really spoilery, but just in case: [[The main area is set up like one of the sitcom studios on the lot and there are little balcony areas up top too. There are fake cameras and little sets set up like they're filming skits and dummies in the audience and balcony and they use the entire area to film the actual show. It's confusing, lol. We went upstairs where they were building an office or something and are going to use it on Monday. She said three people who were going to be in that scene but the only one I could rememeber was Matthew Perry. She'd listed a bunch of the other cast earlier so there were too many names in my head. They also have a control room up there that's for the fake show. And we saw where the band plays. The back-drop that's hanging up there was supposed to be something California-y but there was a mistake and an east coast type scene got hung up and they just left it because "it could have been a choice made by the show". She was telling us how cool it is that they don't have to try and hide anything on the set. Like, other shows have to hide the cables and lights, but they're a part of this show. And incontinuity is fine too. She also told us that the guy who's up in the corner reading announcements and stuff for the fake show was the father of some worker and was just visiting the set but they loved his voice and look and asked him to try out. Ha. ]]So that was a pretty cool detour. And that producer was so nice. I hope the show definitely gets on now. I'll watch it.
We were drivign around the soundstages and I kept pointing out where GG stuff was and all that. We passed Scott's parking space twice. The second time copperboom, Rebecca and myself yelled at our fourth person 'cause she'd missed seeing his spot the first time and on all her other tours. We scared her into thinking that Scott was actual there, not just his spot. But she finally saw it. Heh. We had to go to the transportation thing and see the cars. I finally looked in the Scooby Doo van. There's a map for Coolsville. Heh. Then we went over to the museum where we all went to hang out in the bathroom and gossip because we'd seen everything already. Then we wandered a little and chatted while waiting for the rest of our group. The other three people were leaving 'cause the one dude works for Warner video or something and they had passes (why they went on the tour if they could get on another way I'll never know) so it was just the 4 of us, but there were only 5 minutes and our guide was going to head back to the center. But we badgered him into taking us a little further. We wanted to go to the Dragonfly soundstage, but didn't have time. But we got him to drive us to Stars Hollow one last time. [[We saw the Real Estate office where Emily and Lorelai go. They put it next to the video store. We were cheering for the random dude who was sweeping stuff up and getting in our pics. Told him he's famous now, lol]] And Luke's Diner door was open so we all jumped out and ran up to look in. It was just set up like normal. But still. Heh. We all giggled and ran. Then ran back to the cart to go back.
It was fun. But those 2 hours go way too fast. Especially when they make it 2 hours and 5 minutes and part of that time is watching the movie. I asked our favorite tour guide about this new 2 hours 5 minutes thing and he said it's 'cause they count ten minutes (of the total 2 hr 15 min tour time) for when you come back to the tour center and the guide is supposed to shmooze you. Psh. We want those extra ten minutes on the lot, thankyouverymuch. Heh. We stayed around and talked a little then copperboom and friend took off. Rebecca and I were waiting to talk to our favorite tour guide (that's when I asked about the time thing). Then we went out the parking lot and said goodbye and I headed home. It was a fun morning.
Real (new) spoilers: [[The title of episode 6.21 is "Driving Miss Gilmore" and it's directed by Jamie Babbit. Hee. Oh, and Liz is pregnant. Aww. ]]
phone post Dang, I really did take a lot of pictures today. They're here :
WB Tour - Mar 31, 2006 I came home all fine except for being tired. No traffic really. My mom ordered mexican food so my grandma and I went to pick it up when I got home and we ate. I was so hungry. I never eat anything substantial if I'm leaving early. And now here I am, watching shows I've downloaded and writing this recap. My hand is starting to hurt and I don't even think this is very long. Heh.
