Idle speculation
I always feel weird about speculating about the events that happened in Generation Kill - even though all/most the faces I envision are those of actors, it's hard to forget that it all happened to the real people - but here it goes.

Also, I can especially see Rudy trying to comfort Ray, now.
I'm thinking that they might have to shuffle some people around if Team One lost its TL?
I'm not sure, though.

Poke's a sergeant, too, and I think it's more likely that he would have been bumped up from Assistant Team Leader to Team Leader, rather than shuffling all the other teams around. Since he's already a member of the team, it wouldn't have screwed with the team dynamic the way transplanting somebody else would have. Nate knew him before they both joined First Recon, and it seems to me he would have had faith that Espera would be able to get the job done. I also think that Poke would probably be a lot better equipped to deal with the eccentricities of Brad's team than the other TLs, given that he's his own brand of special.
Then again, that would mean that Humvee 2 is left without somebody in charge in the vehicle. Hmm.

And it is funny you should bring this up because just the other night, after watching Ep 5 for the gajillionth time, all of a sudden I started wondering...if Pappy is gone and Rudy is TL...who is gonna drive? And are they going to just have 4 in the humvee now instead of 5? What seat will be empty? Suddenly after -this- viewing, I was worried about them...
I know we saw Rudy's humvee belting out "Come Sail Away" at the end of Ep 6, but I never paid attention to who was driving.
It is weird how even after multiple, and I do mean multiple viewings, you always see or think of something new.
