Late Update

Sorry folks, yesterday got away from me and I didn't get a chance to post. CT scan went quick and painless except for that barium drink... ugg, if I have to smell that stuff again I think I'll gag. Doc called mid day and said there was some inflammation somewhere that he was concerned about so they signed me up for a colonoscopy on Friday... ( Read more... )

Yeah it's been a rough week with all the tests, but I think we know what's going on now. Just posted some more. *hugs*

Oh Manda... I have been through 4 of said colonoscopy things, and the buildup to the procedure if much worse than the procedure itself. If you only have to do clear liquids for a few days than your battle is half over already. They have some really pleasent gallon of go-lightly stuff that you would have to drink otherwise that makes barium taste like a strawberry milkshake. Not to mention that you would be drinking it sitting on the busiest chair in the house... not to be too descriptive... so horray for clear liquids ( ... )

Ug 4! *Hugs* I'm sure there will be more in my future... prolly something like a regular check up once you have something like crohn's. Yeah the prep was miserable... I did not do well with the trilyte stuff at all, threw up a lot of it and had to do the back up stuff which was easier to drink, but still... and you're right it puts the barium drink into perspective.

*hugs* I am supposed to get a colonoscopy once a year, but I do try to avoid them like the plague simply because of the said trilyte stuff. They have like 4 methods of "clearing you out" for the test, but the drink of nastiness seems to be the preferred method by EVERYONE! The good news is now it's over, and your recovery can start with your meds...

sheesh yeah. They gave me a sheet that listed 3 things to do for prep and one back up if that stuff didn't stay with me. So i managed to make it through a little bit of each. Rough Process and man, yearly is not a fun thought.

Disregard the offline gtalk IM, this answers my questions. They'll give you something at the test to make it less unpleasant. Barium, yucks. Love you. It'll be ok.

*squishes* My mom had one, and the worst part was the IV. She was loopy and tired afterward, so make sure you have someone not just to drive you home, but to stay with you, if possible. *lots of hugs*

Yeah they won't even do it if you don't have an escort. Scottie took me there and back and checked on me sleeping afterwards. Luckily, I know his boss well from a prior assignment and she's really awesome so she's been supportive of him taking time off to take care of me :)
