So Sunday we went to the lumber store, all four of us. This was probably not the highlight of My lady's week, but she took it with good grace and at least pretended to be interested, even though she was probably thinking of taking a nap as I argued with the "Lumber Expert" which translates to, "Teenage kid with lots of zits."

Thank you sooo much for taking me to get that ID. I probably should have taken care of that long ago, but I'm glad it's done now!

Yeah, that kid was a little geek.

What kinda wood do you think you'd use for a scratching post? Probably something really heavy, right? (I'm ashamed to admit that I've found myself using my desk every once and awhile...poor desk.)

We should probably think about this sorta thing, cuz it won't be *that* long before they're crawling. And at that point they'll probably want to claw everything if they can't feed the need somewhere safe.

Its hard to explain to someone who's never experienced it before, but its almost like a terrible itch. The only way to make it better is to claw at something til it goes away.

I don't think you'd want to use something too hard. I don't know how much you're like a domestic feline, but I've watched Bonk and Gokou's cat, and they seem to like soft wood, like pine. Something they can really slaughter. I've also noticed they prefer no finish, or if they're really lucky, the bark of trees.

I know it's a lot in the mind, cause even those cats who they take the claws out of seem to like to go through the motions. But I've also noticed that it does help get rid of the dead casings around the nails. It's probably like a mancure in a sense. Get rid of the dead so the new can come out. Look around your desk where you scratch and you'll find those nail casings. I've noticed it.

I'm thinking maybe of building an indoor cat room for the little ones. Lots of fence posts and untreated wood. Carpet on parts of it, thick cardboard, all types of different surfaces. Some place where they can climb and run around that's not outside. Think of the hours of fun it will provide on a rainy day, right?

What do you think? I ( ... )

Yeah, I know the casings come off, because it's a bitch when you paint your nails and then all of a sudden one of them is totally clear of polish. Grrr.

My toenails don't do that though, just the fingernails.

I think a kitty playroom would be fun. >;)

Your toenails are more humanoid. Guess nature figured you don't need retractable claws on your feet.

Okay, when I'm done with Tanomi's stuff and Videl's kitchen, I'll get started on the playroom. I have a lot of ideas for that place.

That clerk should have taken one look at you and realized you knew your way around.

Yeah, but he wanted to prove he's a somebody. Helps to do some research before you flap your lip, but the kid is young.
