Great piece. Love the bitty hints of Faith the Slayer, and the origins of "Five by five." Also, the tone is . . . well, I can't find a word at the moment, but it's fantastic.

Thanks a bunch! I wanted the tone to be... like, hints of being told from a bar stool, one long 9th-beer confession, sort of, only one step removed from Jack's own voice and what he can possibly know (though the "hoot and a half" is something Faith supposedly picked up). Something like that.

Nice glimpse of young Faith, sketching something of her troubled childhood. Only one thing wrong with it - I wanted more!

Thanks! I could probably write 20 different versions of Faith's childhood... I try not to do it too much; it tends to get very sad (except when I go insane, haha.)

I liked the perspective you choose to use, of the mother's boyfriend and him not understanding the impact that he had on Faith. Great job.

Thanks! I always like to bring in outsiders into the Whedonverse, offset the balance a bit.

Wow. That was really powerful. I normally don't care that much about Faith, but her I really did. Wonderful job.
