I was thinking about book clubs myself. I used to be part of one, but it turned into social evenings rather than literary evenings, and while that was all very nice, it wasn't what I was looking for.
Do you think there'd be any idea in starting an online book club? Not like a discussion list, but one that works like an offline book club just... well, online. We decide on one book to read every month, and then arrange a time to meet up in a chatroom somewhere to discuss it? I know this could get difficult because of time differences, but is it worth even to think more about the details?
I haven't thought about this at all before now, it was just an idea that popped up while I read your post, so I won't be in the least disappointed if you want to shoot down the idea immediate. It just struck me that most of my 'literary friends' (for want of better expression) are all online...
I would be very interested in an online book discussion group, definitely! The only thing I wonder about initially is time-zone differences. But, I would certainly be interested. :)
Ah, my scrapbooking trip was heavenly! I should have posted about that too. I'll do that now, actually. I got to wear my "I Love Edward Cullen" t-shirt too -- the girls all loved it (though I'm not sure they aren't questioning my sanity on some level). <*grins*>
Good advice on the book club --- I'm going to ask several other friends about their book clubs and start thinking about whether I want to stick with this one for other reasons or bag it.
Oh, I was hoping you would say that getting those reviews out of your head opened you up to moving on! Damn. :--D
I've re-read Twilight probably 4-5 times and have many favorite scenes that I re-read often. I forced Bryce to listen to the meadow scene in full, and he still has no interest in the story. He was tired at the time though, so maybe I'll try again.
I've read NM twice so far in full, and those last 200 pages or so () have gotten quite a few re-reads. Like you, I have a hard time with the beginning 1/3 --- it's just so painful. I'm dreading the audio, even though I

I'm so glad you had such a fun weekend! I am jealous of your "I Love Edward Cullen" t-shirt. Once they are back in stock, I am definitely ordering one of them. Too bad I probably won't have one in time for the book signing

You said you've read John some bits of dialogue --- what did you share with him and did he enjoy it generally? Bryce just rolls his eyes, his typical reaction to romances.
I've been to see Jasper Fforde too!! I *loved* him --- he was so funny and charming. I got all my Fforde books signed too, and he had those really cool stamps.
I didn't find anything that she wrote in that piece to reveal another dimension to Jacob that I hadn't already picked up from reading the books.*nods* He is very much a "what you see is what you get" kind of character I think. I'm having a hard time articulating it appropriately, but I can't even say that it's so much that I dislike Jacob as a person (though I certainly have lots of moments in NM where I did dislike him ... mostly when he is hurling insults at the Cullens .. grrrr
