I filed a report with LJ Abuse, and this is the response I got from LJ:

Dear LiveJournal user andrew_day,

Thank you for your report. While the content in question is indeed offensive and in poor taste, it does not constitute a violation of the LiveJournal Terms of Service. The content posted is simply an opinion, and we allow the expression of a wide range of opinions on LiveJournal. As long as the content does not explicitly encourage violence or physical harm against a particular social minority, it is not considered hate speech.

If you have not already done so, we suggest you contact the maintainers of the community. As LiveJournal provides community maintainers the ability to delete unwanted entries and ban users from posting in the future, the Abuse Prevention Team does not generally intervene in such situations where there has not been a Terms of Service violation.

So all we can do is ban the user from the comm and delete the entries in question.

Maintainers? Moderators?
