Amon stood over the bed where Shido slept in peace. The baby didn’t know that death loomed over him. A few moments with a pillow would end all of Amon’s troubles. He would again be the true heir. His parents would mourn, but would heal.
They would also love him again, and just him. The way they had before.
Shido opened his eyes and smiled an innocent smile. One chubby hand reached up to clutch Amon’s finger as the older child froze in mid-reach. Such foolish trust.
Amon couldn’t break it. Couldn’t.
He really was just a fake after all.
