Arthur/Gwen, Chloe/Oliver. Why I'm not that upset by the Merlin finale.

Maybe it’s because my ultimate OTP is Chloe and Oliver from Smallville, who never got enough screen time, and most of their development happened in Offscreenville.

I think you're on to something here. Because like you I'm quite content with the A/G development. Of course I would have liked to see them get married and deal with the whole Lancelot thing too, but I didn't expect it and therefor wasn't disappointed when it didn't happen. I'm also quilte fond of the whole; Their love is so strong that it will rise above every obstacle they come across. I think that's what makes them so great as a couple.

I know a lot of people think that season 5 was full of plot holes and lacking in continuity (and there was/it is, no denying it) but looking back on the previous seasons there too has been things that were glanced over briefly or simply forgotten/ignored. They just weren't so obvious, because each episode was more of a stand-alone episode with a start and a finish. I'm not so concerned about it, and you're propably right, it's because of 10 years of muddled continuity in the Smallville univers LOL!!

You know, I totally understand the frustrations of Arwen fans. I do. But, as I've said, my expectations are so low, and I just know that the show is not going to deal with things the right way. I've simply decided to enjoy what they give me. I can't get outraged over it. I still like the show despite its many faults. Heck, I endured years of Smallville, and it was worth it all just for the Chlollie. LOL

Not having the ability to watch Merlin i am living vicariously tbrough you. I am an eternal camelot and all the fixins fan. I empathize with the good acting to poor writing ratio. Remember chlollie fans fought hard and one big. A/G fans will to prevail :) hugs.
Btw a rewrite on a good knight is out and i am going for darker more sensual chaulk fool of goodness romance. : )

You should watch "Merlin". I know you'd enjoy it. SyFy will air season 4 in January. It airs in the UK first, and I download the episodes. You can also pick up seasons 1, 2, and I think 3 on Amazon for our U.S. region. There's 13 episodes per season. Gwen is a servant girl, Arthur's a prince (well, now he's King this season), Merlin is around the same age as Arthur and his servant. It's all very different. Like Smallville, it has it's moments of brilliance, but also suffers from bad writing. The acting however, is AMAZING. I wouldn't love Arthur/Gwen so much if it weren't for these two actors.

I'll check out the story you've posted!
