Bored and feeling nostalgic. I loved this movie as a kid and had the biggest crush on Howard Keel. Hahahaha.. Man, they don't make 'em like this anymore.
Wait. Gen, are you kidding me? This is my favorite musical of EVER, and not because it's the 'best' but I also used to watch it all the time when I was kid with my brother. We were both wildly obsessed. Also, check out the 50's musical breakdancing, lol.
I had a crush on Caleb. He didn't say much but in "Lonesome Polecat", I always loved the way he brandished the axe, he was such an amazing dancer. Oh, remember Dorcas? Hysterical.
So, just so you know, kind of love you even more knowing that you like this film.
Heeee! It's so funny because my sisters and I were talking about this movie the other day and how much we used to watch it, so I had to look on YouTube to see if there were any clips. (Our other favorite was "Singing in the Rain"). I was grinning like an idiot the entire way through watching this. Still makes me smile so much. So many good scenes to love. (All the brothers were kinda hot in their own ways) I just realized I don't have this on DVD. If it's available, I'm getting it as a present to myself! LOL
Aww.. I'm glad you kinda love me more... it's so great when you discover your LJ friends have much more in common than you think! *smishes you* :)
YAY! Great movie! And its director is Stanley Donen, Gene Kelly's longtime friend & assistant! :D (they co-directed Singin' in the rain a few years before this movie)
Ohhh.. I didn't know that about the director! I love Gene Kelly too, and Singin' in the Rain. GOTTA DANCE! Cyd Charisse with her mile long legs dancing and coin tossing.. LOL Loved it. :)
FRANK! I didn't like Frank at first (bc I don't like Sarah...or Liz...)
And as a young child, I didn't really truly understand that scene. HEH! And then at the "shotgun" wedding and the daddies step up when the men look back.

I remember the ending when the parson hears the baby crying and asks which girl the babe belongs to, and in unison, they all say.. "MINE".. haha.
