He wishes it had not come to this, but there's way to turn back now. There's no way to take back the words and deeds for which he would give his very soul to change. There's nothing that can be done now except the final, few deeds. He sweeps his hands over the gentle face which he's loved with his entire heart for years, closing his eyes one last time. He kisses his forehead and whispers, "All is forgiven." He buries the best friend he's ever known and, at last, grants himself freedom with a quick knife through the heart.
