[OTC] What are you doing? What are you thinking? What do you think you’re doing?!?!?

[Follows THIS post. April = redhead_druid, Christopher = notawarrior, Jalil is the one in my head and not binding on any other muse.]

He could smell the stench of Helheim before they even arrived at the door, before he was even conscious. There was something about the stench of the place: fear and terror mixed with rotting corpses and the sharp tang of freshly spilled blood. It was something that had been ingrained in their brains since the moment they had first set foot here all those years ago, and the reason they vowed to never return. And yet, for some reason, that was the direction where they were heading and while David knew why, had been told why, he didn’t understand why, and he was panicking. He didn’t want to go back there. Not while he still had breath in his body.

“What the fuck-”

“Oh, look,” Christopher grumbled. “The fearless general is awake.”

“David, just-calm down.” It was April’s voice, he could discern that much, at least, but he couldn’t see her. All he could see was a pair of boots that belonged to Christopher and the hilt of his sword sitting not too far from him.

“Calm down! You’re fucking driving me into hell itself, and you want me to calm the fuck down!” Panic was rising in his throat and he started to reach for is sword, and he found it knocked out of his hand by someone’s foot. He looked up and saw Christopher sitting above him on the edge of the wagon.

“Calm the fuck down, man. We’re going fucking home. And for some reason-those two don’t want to leave without you. So unless you want me to knock you the fuck out again, sit your ass down and fucking deal with it.”

“Why?” David said, pushing himself up and looking at April and Jalil. “Why are you doing this?”

“This world is dying, David,” Jalil replied. “Everyone can see that.”

“Then we should fucking go down swinging, not bail out like scared little fucking girls.”

“Actually, you know what, David?” April said, turning around to face him and giving him a glare. “I am a scared little girl. I’m fucking terrified, and if I’m going to die, I’m not fucking dying here. Alright?”

He looked at her, and he could tell that she was serious. They were all serious. They all really wanted this. And there was nothing he could do to stop them.

He didn’t say anything, just turned around and sat down on the edge of the cart. He watched the land disappear into the distance, and the fear continue to creep over his spine and under his skin. This was going to be one of the hardest things he’s ever done, and it wasn’t getting through Hel’s domain that he was referring to.
