Do you make your cakes from scratch or from mixes? I literally just baked my first cake from scratch and it's looking... okay... but as long as it tastes good that's all that matters! Here's hoping that I can decorate it as pretty as you can :)

I've been using box mixes for now with a little tweaking here and there lol. I don't own a mixer and I have such limited time, its so much easier for me to take a couple of minutes to do it.
I figure I'll work on cakes from the outside in haha. Backwards, maybe? But I figure I'll get to it eventually.

Gotcha ;) I think the outside is the hardest to perfect anyways. I'll probably just slap on some pre-made icing today. It won't be pretty.

Do you not even have a lil hand mixer? They're pretty cheap. That said, it took me about an hour including baking to get the cake done today even with a hand mixer.

Haha yeah I don't even have a little hand mixer. I make my icing and my arm kills hahaha.

I need to just get one haha. I feel like it would be a waste because I eventually will want to replace it in the near future with a nice kitchenaid. Buuut I should get one just to hold myself over.

get a mixer from a thrift store! i got one used for $2.50 and it's awesome. and i won't feel bad re-donating it when i upgrade!
