Chapter 6

Kyuhyun stared at him, not knowing how to respond. He liked that smile now, it just made everything peaceful. He felt as if he had never heard this silence before and this will be the first time, first time ever. “You’re welcome,” He whispers then left immediately, slowly closing the door and walked away.

“Hello?” Jongwoon answers his phone that night he got home after taking care of Sungmin and explaining to his mother. “Oh, Kim Heechul-shii?” He recognizes the voice on the other phone immediately. He went to take some water from the kitchen as he listens and his eyes widened at the news he got.  “The boy’s gone?” He asked in shock, he paused and dropped the glass of water he held in his hand.

Jongwoon arrived at the Kim Estate later that night after a one and a half hour drive from his home. The maids welcomed him anxiously and took him immediately at the garden where the caretaker told him to meet Heechul. “Heechul,” He called as soon as he sees that figure. Who would forget that figure?

“What took you so long?!” Heechul yells as he responded to the call.

“I believe my house if so so so so so far from here,” Jongwoon reasoned.

“Whatever, just look at this,” Heechul then grabbed his hand and pulled him somewhere at the garden and arrived at the storage room. Han Kyung who was waiting for them showed him the book. “Look, the boy’s gone,” Heechul said as he turns to the middle page where there was supposed to be a drawing a boy in there.

“Is this the right book?”

“Well duhh, this is the only book I hid here…the maids also said that when they were cleaning they found the room in a mess and the book, it like…flew out or something,” Heechul explains, throwing his hands on the air. Jongwoon has a mixed feeling of worry and joy at the moment. He’s sure though that this isn’t good, he, the boy, wasn’t supposed to come out. He was supposed to stay there. Stay inside the book until Jongwoon finds someone who could do the same to him and trap him inside with him, the boy. It was supposed to be like that. Jongwoon took the book from Han Kyung and stared at it.

“Who drew the wings?” Jongwoon asks nervously.

“I don’t know…it wasn’t the maids though, I’m sure,” Heechul answered.

Jongwoon paused for a moment to think. It can’t be Ryeowook but there’s a possibility. If he calculated it right, the boy’s age would be 23 by now in this generation, and Ryeowook looks like 23. He looked at Heechul and Han Kyung and smiled calmly. “I’ll leave the book here,”

“So, what are we gonna do? Someone must’ve stolen the real book or something,” Heechul said.

Jongwoon shook his head. “No, this is the real one. Looks like someone freed the little boy from his prison,” He smirked. Heechul and Han Kyung looked at him in confusion. “I’ll tell you if I have some news,” He said and turns around.

“You better, this is freaking me out,” Heechul said as he watched Jongwoon walk away with Han Kyung trying to comfort him.

Kyuhyun tried and tried to call his sister almost all afternoon but failed to connect. He isn’t sure what his sister’s opinion about him living on the same roof with Ryeowook but he had no choice. He dials again and failed again. “Darn, I guess I have no choice,” He walked to the gate, hesitating to leave Ryeowook or not. He thought for a while and convinced himself that nothing will happen because he’ll come back immediately. And so, he called a cab to drive him to the mansion.

Jongwoon dug out of the internet almost all afternoon but failed to get the information he wanted. It wasn’t like he’ll get anything from the internet anyway; he just needed some time to recall everything he knew about archeology. First of all, archeology doesn’t even include Reincarnation. Obviously. He sighed and took a sip from his coffee then leaned back to his chair. “Argh…why did you come out? Dammit…you’re giving me such a hard time, Li Xu…” He whispers while massaging his forehead.

Then suddenly, his phone rang, causing him to sit up straight immediately and picked up his phone. “Yeah?”

“Hyung, I have some orders for you,” Of course, Kyuhyun would say that.

“You’re asking a favor from me,” Jongwoon replied with a smirk.

“This is not a favor…it’s more like a request,” Of course, Kyuhyun would insist.

“Favor,” Jongwoon would also insist.

“Anyway, can you pick me up at my house? My sister kidnapped the car and she’s not answering her phone,” Kyuhyun said, sounding much pissed.

“…I’m confused,”

“Um…I’ll tell you when you get here, just follow my orders!” Kyuhyun then hang up, leaving a startled Jongwoon with his thoughts.

“He is so…impudent,” Jongwoon sighed annoyingly as he stands up.

Kyuhyun walked back to his room. He checked his things, making sure he doesn’t leave something valuable then he went down carrying his bag. When he got in the living room, he stopped and dropped his bag on the floor.

“You’ve been calling me to tell me you’re leaving me?!” Ahra exclaimed. Of course, Kyuhyun wouldn’t try to explain at all.

“I am not leaving you,”

“Oh? Then why are you carrying bags? You’re leaving me!”

“I’m just going to move to Ryeowook’s,”

“Why do you need to move to his house when you have your own place to stay?!”

“You don’t understand…I can’t just leave him alone…I mean, he’s all by himself,” Oh shit, he ended up explaining in the end. “And I’m responsible for him since I promised to take care of him,”

Ahra stared at him wide-eyed. “There’s something going on between you, isn’t it?” She accused. “You’re not the Kyuhyun I knew! Since when did you learn how to be responsible?! OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS ARE TOGETHER!”

“Noona-“

“I DON’T BELIEVE IT!!!” Ahra yelled louder dramatically at the same time Jongwoon’s car beeped outside. Kyuhyun was hurrying now.

“Look Noona, I have no time to explain I need to go-“ He was then unable to  finish his words when Ahra suddenly grabbed his collar.

“You are not going anywhere! Grandma is going home next week!”

“Right now, I seriously don’t care, I need to go, let me go,” Kyuhyun ordered sternly.

“Fine, then I’ll cut your credit card,” Ahra said with a smirk only to be replied with a loud bang of the door. “Wha-when-ARGH! CHO KYUHYUN I MEAN IT!!!”

“Bye noona!” Kyuhyun yelled outside with a sinister smile before hopping inside Jongwoon’s car.

“Same old devil,” Jongwoon whispers, shaking his head and driving off.

“Li Xu!” Someone called, almost like an echo. He was crying for help…no he was looking for someone, a certain person. “Li Xu!” He calls again, breaking the door, the walls, everything that came in between their soul’s presences. He sees him, injured, near to tears, when he finally found him. “Li Xu…” He ran to him immediately, embracing him tightly, warmly, and securely.  It wasn’t long until he realized, the place was burning with fire.

“You are…?” It was the only response he got from Li Xu. He cared so much for that Li Xu, but Li Xu doesn’t even know him.

Ryeowook choked and almost couldn’t breathe when he woke up with a bad dream. He was sweating and he can feel heat everywhere. Almost seeming like he actually was there, inside his dream, inside the place that was burning. He heard a car screeching from outside and so he immediately went off his bed, running out immediately and his face beamed with a smile when he saw a certain person’s appearance. “Kyuhyun-shii!” He yells, running off to Kyuhyun and unknowingly hugged him. Jongwoon can only stare at them. Kyuhyun was startled.

Ryeowook broke off the hug and looked up at Kyuhyun with a smile. “You know what? I woke up and I can see perfectly fine! It doesn’t sting anymore!” He announces excitedly.

Kyuhyun smiled at him. “That’s good,” He snapped out when he noticed Jongwoon looking at him weirdly. “I mean…so? It’s not like you were blinded anyway,” He continued awkwardly. “Bring this to my room,” He ordered, giving Ryeowook his bag.

“Okay!”

Kyuhyun glared at Jongwoon while leaning on the door. “Why are you like this?” He asked, pissed.

Jongwoon turned to him and chuckled. “Kyu, look at how small Ryeowook is, and you let him carry your bags,” He told Kyuhyun who was rolling his eyes.

“Speaking of…where is that little guy?” Kyuhyun looked around then out of the room. “I should’ve known he would be at the kitchen again,” He sighed when he saw Ryeowook busily preparing something for him and Jongwoon and couldn’t help but smile.

“Does he always stay in the kitchen?” Jongwoon asks suddenly as he watches Ryeowook with Kyuhyun.

“Huh? Oh…yeah, he loves cooking,” Kyuhyun answered, trying not to sound enthusiastic. Not too familiar and probably not too comfortable too. His phone rang and he immediately answered it.

“Bye,” He answers.

“CHO KYUHYUN! DON’T YOU DARE HANG UP!” Ahra yells from the other line.

“What is it?”

“GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE RIGHT NOW! I’M WARNING YOU!”

“What’s up with you? I thought you wanted me to disappear, well?”

“I was only kidding! GRANDMA’S COMING BACK NEXT WEEK!!!” Ahra yells in panic.

“I’ll just go back there next week,” Kyuhyun said then hung up. He sighed, asking himself why his grandma has to come back so early. It’s all very complicated. He thought for a moment and an idea came on his mind.

“Jongwoon, I’ll leave Ryeowook to you for a while, I need to do something,” Kyuhyun told Jongwoon who was asking for an explanation. He ignored them and continued walking away.

“Aishh…that kid,” Jongwoon sighs and massages his temple when he noticed some aura beside him and he immediately turned. “Oh, Ryeowook,” He greeted Ryeowook who was looking at the gate cluelessly while holding a tray of teas.

“Where is he going, Jongwoon hyung?” Ryeowook asked him, eyes still fixed on the car that was starting to drive away.

“He just needs to settle something…I guess,” Jongwoon answers, but isn’t sure either. “Are those Wulong teas?” He asks, interested in away as he grabs for one.

Ryeowook nodded. “I decided to make some…for Kyuhyun and you…but it seems like Kyuhyun has gone out…”

Jongwoon then smiled at him after drinking enough from the cup. “It’s delicious…wow, I’ve never tasted Wulong tea this good before,” He lied again. He definitely did, a few decades back.

“Thank you, Jongwoon hyung,” Ryeowook flashed him one of his angelic smiles. Jongwoon missed that, although he can’t show it, he wanted to hug this certain angel in front of him. He curses Kyuhyun for letting him stay alone with Ryeowook.

“Jongwoon hyung, you must be very bored…” The little voice said in concern and Jongwoon peeks at Ryeowook. “If you want, you can go home…I promise I’ll be fine…”

“No, I’m fine, Kyuhyun told me to stay here with you so I can’t leave you alone,” Jongwoon told Ryeowook the nth time. He isn’t really that type of person who will take everything seriously nor follow Kyuhyun’s orders, not even doing him a favor, but that look on his face when he told him to stay with Ryeowook, it was different.  Jongwoon wants to know what’s making him change. Either that, or who’s making him change.

“Kyuhyun…seems to care for you now,”

“No he doesn’t,” Ryeowook disagreed immediately and sighed. “I did save him…but he isn’t grateful at all…” And he pouts.

“You saved him?”

“Yeah...I saved his life…it’s actually a long story…but…why is he like that? He often gets pissed,” Ryeowook asked, now moving to sit at the couch in front of Jongwoon, with the table in between them.

“He’s always like that…stubborn, cocky and whatnot but he’s got some heart…don’t worry, you’re living with him now so I think you’ll be able to see a different side of him sooner,” Jongwoon told Ryeowook with a calm smile, making Ryeowook’s heart beat faster, because it was too familiar.

Ryeowook smiled back. “Jongwoon hyung has a beautiful smile…”

Jongwoon stared at him, surprised. He never expected to hear these words…again.

“You have such a beautiful smile…you should always smile like that…”

“You should always smile like that, Jongwoon hyung,” Ryeowook continued, even making Jongwoon frozen. This wasn’t supposed to happen; he isn’t supposed to hear these things. He doesn’t want them again.

Jongwoon was now sweating, he doesn’t want it back. All the memories that he’s been neglecting…he doesn’t want them. Because what he saw first was losing the one he loved, he doesn’t want to remember what happened before that. It’ll only hurt more. “Jongwoon hyung?”

“Sto…stop talking…” He whispers, his eyes staring down at his feet as he clenches his hands.

“Hyung?”

“SHUT UP!” He yells, holding his hands to his ears, refusing to hear anything any longer. It was quiet, so quiet that it was deafening. When all he feels was calm, silence, comfort…he slowly looked up as he lets his hands fall back down to his thighs. He sees Ryeowook, scared. “I…I’m sorry…” He apologizes immediately, hoping to have another look at that smile.

“It…it’s okay…sorry for being noisy, Jongwoon hyung…” Ryeowook replies, voice trembling, his mouth forcing a smile.

“I think I’m just stressed…forgive me Ryeowook,” Jongwoon leans on the couch and smiled at Ryeowook. This person, so beautiful and so delicate. He couldn’t believe he lost such creature. He just can’t.

Not long after, their conversation was interrupted when Kyuhyun came back with two companions following him from behind. The two looked like twins, always staying beside each other. It was soon realized now, that they are all sitting on the couch which was the center of attracting inside the living room. Kyuhyun and the two on one side then Jongwoon and Ryeowook on the other.

“Introduce yourselves,” Kyuhyun started, referring to the two guys sitting beside him.

The other shot a glare at him then smiled when he turned to Jongwoon and Ryeowook. “Hi, my name is Lee Donghae,” He greeted in an up-beat manner, flashing a very wide smile.

“And I’m Lee Hyukjae,” The other one seemed to be calmer but definitely ain’t different at all.

“So…what’s the point of you guys being here?” Jongwoon asked the both.

“They’re here to help me get rid of my grandmother…” Kyuhyun replied blatantly instead.

SO CRUEL! Ryeowook thought in shock. “What…? Why?” He asks in concern.

“That was a joke…okay maybe a part of is not…” Kyuhyun replied. “I need them to keep my grandma busy while she’s here the whole week starting next week…I don’t really like being with her,”

“Why not?” Ryeowook asked again.

“Reporter, you do not belong here,” Kyuhyun glared at Ryeowook.

“Eep! Reporter?!” Ryeowook repeats in shock.

“But still Kyuhyun, using these guys…” Jongwoon said in worry.

“We’re fine by it, we really like Kyuhyun’s grandma,” Donghae interrupted.

“Yeah, she’s really cool,” And Hyukjae seconded.

“I guess that makes it less cruel,” Jongwoon concluded while nodding. “Anyway, I need to go now, I still have plans unfinished,” He says while standing up. “It was nice talking to you Ryeowook,” He smiled then walked away with Hyukjae and Donghae waving him goodbye. Ryeowook, only once again, smiled back.

“Is that food I smell?” Donghae asks as he looks around and then found the kitchen. “FOOD!!!” He yells and runs for his life. With Hyukjae following him of course.

“Yah! Donghae!”

Kyuhyun sighed as Ryeowook chuckled, hearing the two argue inside the kitchen. “Oh I almost forgot to tell you…they loving experimenting so don’t be shocked when you see them with lab clothes or something,”

“Are they gonna be staying here?”

“Yeah…I guess so,”

“But…they’re only two bedrooms,”

Kyuhyun paused. My reckless mind, you strike again.

“Let me stay with Ryeowook!” Donghae chirped.

“No! I’m staying with him!” Hyukjae disagrees and yells at him.

“No! I decided it first!”

“I saw him first!”

“I talked to him first!”

Ryeowook chuckles as he watched the two fighting. Kyuhyun sighed then stepped in between them. "You guys are so noisy…the two of you will stay at my room…I’m staying with Ryeowook,” He decided, receiving much shock from everyone.

“Aww, that’s a pity…” Donghae pouted and curled at the couch.

“W-Wait a sec…”

“Heh, serves you right,” Hyukjae still continued to tease him.

“What is…?”

“Hey, get your things in your room now,” Kyuhyun ordered them sternly.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE GONNA BE STAYING WITH ME?!” Ryeowook exclaimed, seemingly frightened and scared. “You have to be kidding me….” He whispers, close to tears in defeat.

“Why the sudden outburst?”

“Well…I’ve never slept beside anyone…atleast from what I remember…” Ryeowook went back to his usual composure.

“It’s only going to be for one week,” Kyuhyun told him to ease the latter’s worry. “And I go to school so I wake up early,” He continued while standing up and stretching his body.

“School?” Ryeowook asks and of course he demands an elaborative explanation.

“Let me explain to you what school is,” Hyukjae interrupted and positioned himself in front of Ryeowook who looked at him, startled. “A school is an institution designed for the teaching of students under the supervision of teachers,” He explains. Ryeowook doesn’t understand such complicated words. Actually he does, he just doesn’t want to think.

“School is where you study science, language…math, and also practices sports and make friends,” Donghae told him and Ryeowook smiled. Guess that’s a better explanation for a simple mind. Kyuhyun thinks this is bad.

“Friends?” Ryeowook asks, face beaming with a smile. Hyukjae and Donghae nodded.

Kyuhyun thinks this is really bad.

“I wanna go to school too!”

“Oh God…” Kyuhyun sighed in frustration.
