Ok. I need help. Badly.

For my Experimental Writing class, I need answers. Not to the Secret Of The Universe, just to a few, personal questions. I’m leaving this open so you can reply Anonymously if you’d like, but I seriously need help, like, before Monday when everything’s due ( Read more... )

^_^;;;

When you do this survey in real life, among students, almost EVERYONE chooses the body-chop body-dump option. I mean, compared to the people I'm physically near on a regular basis, the internet people are SAFE.

Sure we're safe, come over here sweetie, want some candy?

CANDY!

Oh, there was a similar RL scenario where someone actually asked if I'd lost a mouse, and they had a pretty white mouse instead of candy, and I WENT OVER THERE. Like NOTHING. Didn't even think twice.

One night a while ago someone tried to pick up my daughter and her friend, and was all "Hey, what's your name, c'mere, what's your name."

She replied "My name is... Fuck. (one finger salute) You. (second one finger salute)"

I'm always amazed when my kids come home with all kinds of "OMG your children may be stalked on the interwebs" stuff from school. I'm like: "Hello, have you been outside lately? It's not exactly safe there, either."

Holy crap. Where do you LIVE? That's scary.

I'd rather be stalked online--I can't even think of a way someone could trace me to the real world, since I lie on all my personal info when registering for stuff.

Still, scary.

I know someone who knows how to find people fairly easily online. I sadly do not know how it works, so I can't tell you if just lying is enough for people other than site owners, but the people who only the websites you go on can find you EASY. They have your IP address; even advertisements on sites, in fact, can find your IP address and then use the name of the town you're in on the ad; they do that on lots of ads on the less-than-savory sites. 'Tis quite creepy, actually, and why I don't go on those kinds of sites. Anymore. Ahem.
