It's not a big deal--huge amounts aren't involved--and yet...I really don't like people thinking that I'm such an idiot that I wouldn't notice.

It's not that they think you're an idiot so much as they know that there are idiots out there who will respond. It gives them a reason to keep spamming people. The NY Times computer writer, whose name escapes me at the moment, recounted an anecdote about a woman who made an offer on a house, anticipating the bounty she'd be receiving from Nigeria. No joke.

Heh. Yeah, well, scams suck. When I used my eBay account, I would get email from people purporting to be eBay security asking for my password and personal information. Thing is, when you clicked the link to give it to them, it went to a eBay looking site - but if you looked at the address bar, it was like "www.sitehosting.com/skhsfkjh/ebay.php." Which meant that it was an eBay site.

People like that just made me angry.

Gack. I meant "wasn't an eBay site." Damn typos.

It's not a personal to your intelligence - they just know that there are enough morons out there to make it worthwhile for them to try scamming everyone. And they managed to get their filthy little hands on some of your details.

And now he is billing Connecticare in my name for a visit that never took place. And Connecticare is denying most of the claim, and telling me that I owe him.

Oh, health insurance fraud. I don't suppose there is any up and coming prosecutor who would like to pin Doctor Idiot to the wall on this one?
