Spoon River Anthology is one of the most underrated collections of poetry, and that's one of my favorite pieces from there. Let me offer the ending of Lucinda Matlock:

What is this I hear of sorrow and weariness,
Anger, discontent and drooping hopes?
Degenerate sons and daughters,
Life is too strong for you--
It takes life to love Life.
