"In order to qualify for SSDI, you must suffer from a permanent condition that prevents you from working. In other words, your disability must have lasted, or be expected to last, a minimum of twelve months and you must be unable to earn an income greater than $1000 per month."
Make sure you bring proof of the months in which you earned little or nothing, as well as evidence of the months in which you earned more than usual. As long as it all averages out as less than $1000 per month, it should be OK.

Just a thought: I really really hope things don't take a turn for the worse, but if they do...have you considered a job via internet? Maybe writing articles for a website? web hosting? My apologies if you've already tried this...just a suggestion.

Our mutual, nameless friend had to be re-evaluated recently also. Because... apparently epilepsy might just pack up and clear out overnight. Got to keep checking!

Of course! Neurological malfunctions do that ALL THE TIME.
Come to think of it, I'm epileptic and have been since I was four. (Petit mal.) I may as well mention that to SSDI, in addition to the lymphedema.
