We Got Your Back Project

I heard about the We Got Your Back Project, courtesy of nagasvoice. It's like It Gets Better in its aim; however, it's emphasizing that it encourages trans people, bi people and people of color to participate. It also seems to be more pragmatic in that it doesn't promise that things will get better; it mostly talks about people being there to support each ( Read more... )

Did you see that the single equalities bill has come into law in the UK? Lots of changes to extend the protection against discrimination for different groups. Good stuff.

We've had various discrimination laws in place for years, this was just an amalgamation and extension of existing rules into one framework. Not just race, religion or disability, there's protection related to sexual oritentaion and transgender.

I'm VERY glad that transgender is a protected category; I've heard a number of trans people saying of late that the T in LGBT gets overlooked all too often.

I wish that America had a law that was similarly sensible.
