30 Days of TV Meme -- Day 9

Jun 10, 2010 00:30

Having failed miserably at the question of a show everyone should watch, I hope I'll do better tonight with this question.

Day 9 -- Best scene ever.Okay. I can't say that ANY scene is the best ever and that none can equal it. But here's a scene I love. And let me describe it beneath the video, because videos can be removed from the Net so easily ( Read more... )

Yeah I agree with your comments about this ep for all the same reasons. My dad used to say that being a grownup was really about finally realizing that very often you would have to do the right thing, even though it sucks, hurts, or is just plain unpleasant.

Also, cool meme :)

Exactly. Your dad was a very smart man.

I think the fact that I didn't expect Buffy to kill Angel for the sake of the world--even though that was the logical thing to do, and even though I'd been watching her for a season at that point--says something about the way that women are often presented in fantasy.

That was my choice as well. For the best scene ever.

It's a great scene. I have to admit that when Buffy clapped that sword between her hands and said, "Me," I cheered.

Oh god, this scene was awful (in a good, I-think-my-chest-just-exploded sort of way). Excellent pick.

Ohhhh, yeah. Painful as hell. I'm not even a fan of Angel (or Buffy/Angel) and it still broke my heart.

Ugh. It was even worse for me because I was/am a Buffy/Angel fan. Big time. It was the moment of: Thank CHRIST Angel is back from being Mr. Psycho Stabbydeath juxtaposed against: Oh SHIT. She has to kill him?! with a little sprig of: Goddamn, I love Buffy and why oh why do these decisions have to be made by a kid? Stir all ingredients together and I was a mushy mess for a while after this episode was over.

OH, MY GOD, THIS SCENE.

I cry every single time. Because it is gorgeous and perfect and it breaks my heart. In fact, every time I hear 'Full of Grace', I get teary-eyed.

(Also, Giles finding Jenny in Passion. And most of Innocence. Actually, Season 2 is my favourite season of Buffy.)

I think that Season 2 and Season 5 are my favorites. And oh, yes, so many of those episodes led to me wailing, "[Character Name], NO!" and getting hopelessly choked up.

In fact, every time I hear 'Full of Grace', I get teary-eyed.

I've never heard "Full of Grace" anywhere but on that episode--but I understand. Some songs just become linked to an event onscreen in your mind and after that...yeah, the song is enough to devastate you. ("Dust in the Wind" does that to me.)

I'm such a glutton for punishment that I actually downloaded 'Full of Grace' because of that episode. ;) There are a lot of songs I first heard on television shows; actually, most of my knowledge of contemporary music is based on that.
