Dumbledore lying about being a Legilimens was fantastic. He never did use that power, did he? Heh. And I'd thought about the whole James-and-Lily-Inferi thing, too. That was just brilliant.
Peter was such a complicated, interesting character. I really wish JKR had done more with him. Great stuff!

The parallel between Remus and Tonks and James and Lily was one I hadn't thought about at all, but it makes sense in retrospect.

the fact that he's completely matter-of-fact about it makes all the awfulness he's been through even worse because he's got no reason to expect things to turn out well.
You're right. He doesn't expect things to turn out well, or to be spared in any way. But he's still trying in his own way--even though he knows Remus probably won't listen.

Your Peter is just marvellous. Although I really should start reading the Dresden Files -- maybe for a post-dissertation treat this summer.

This was lovely, and might have redeemed the last book a little, if it had been in there somewhere.

Thank you. I wish it had been; it would have helped if we could have seen Peter as a believable person in a bad situation. Unfortunately, Rowling's hatred for traitors--which also led her to depict Hermione as permanently disfiguring another girl for being a tattletale and as still having the moral high ground--got in the way.
Regulus wants to know where the hell Lupin's good sense ran off to. Complete with comments like 'what, did it die along with Sirius?'I think that's something that Rowling needed to explore--and could have, if she'd just broken from the mindset of "everything Harry does is fascinating, including a camping trip from Hell ( ... )
