Lyric Wheels, Halloween, NaNoWriMo

Damn and blast.

I'm really stuck on the Lyric Wheel story for Halloween. I had several ideas, all of which I tried writing about and none of which got more than halfway down the page. And one idea that would have been good, but the ME writers claimed it for the show this Wednesday, and I'm afraid I'd be accused of copying.

I dread Halloween. It's become a media circus here in Norway, where we, by the way, have no traditions whatsoever for it. The shops try to make a big deal out of it, to sell costumes, etc... But the 6-8 year olds that go around begging for candy are relatively absent on the night. It's the teenagers who have taken the night as their own, mainly just throwing eggs, toilet-paper, ketchup on houses etc, if people don't open their doors.

My parents refuse to open the door, because they also see it as begging... So, it's going to be fun.---

Yes, we have the teenaged marauders who do that too. Halloween's not a night to have your car sitting in your driveway--not if you want said car to be intact the next day. As a result of the marauders, my parents stopped opening the door to trick-or-treaters when I was about ten.

And, just as an aside, the Halloween decorations have been in the stores since August 2nd.

I'm also sorta stuck with the Lyric Wheel (but that's less so because of the Halloween element, more because of the weird lyrics I got), but I work well under pressure.
And I already know some of the characters for my NaNoWriMo novel, but not all of them. I've never written more than 1,000 words a day and never more than 2,000 words for one story, so writing 50,000 words in one month will definitely be a challenge, but isn't the point of NaNoWriMo to challenge yourself? Your not doing it to produce works of great literature. You're doing it to see if you can do it (like climbing Mt. Everest).
And sometimes, having things not planned works to your advantage.

Well, actually, I'm going to try to produce something good. That's kind of the point, for me. It may turn out bad, but I have to try to make it good.

I don't know any of the characters yet. None. And I think I should have some kind of idea of who I'm writing about and what's happening before I start writing on November 1.

We don't really celebrate Halloween with the trick or treating over here, except for the residents of the posh subdivisions.

NaNoWriMo is like the equivalent of the 24 hour comic. I don't think that I'd be able to do it. Good luck with your 1 month novel though.

Buffyverse Halloween is different in that...the evil creepies stay inside. Seriously. Sunnydale is safe (allegedly) on Halloween night
