Nothing serious here, just a silly Bring Back Black comment fic that I wrote for ignipes. (And no, I haven't forgotten the OTHER comment fics I owe everyone.)
::grins:: Thanks. (And hell yes. XD) My own contribution to the Bring Back Black thing, I don't think I can do justice - I'm not immersed in HP fandom enough to really write it. But I think it'd be cool if Sirius ended up in London Below...
It would be VERY interesting to see his reaction to the Marquis de Carabas. (Who actually has a bit in common with Voldemort, now that I think about it.)
And oh, my God, would the rats and the rat-speakers freak him out.
Also: I haven't been paying any attention at all to the HP fandom since around when HBP came out, so I don't know if this is your own theory or if other people have been postulating Stubby Boardman as Regulus? Because while I seriously doubt that's true, I absolutely adore the concept.
Well, I was away from HP fandom for a long time myself. (I was hospitalized last August, and just got out this February.) But to answer your question, no, the idea's not mine. It's been floating around since OotP, when Sirius revealed he had a brother. Someone remembered then that Stubby Boardman was mistaken for Sirius, and the theory grew from there. It started to look a lot more possible after HBP, though, because suddenly Regulus was becoming a lot more important. And we knew now that he was a Slytherin. And faking his own death and adopting a new identity just seemed like a very Slytherin thing to do.
I don't think it's going to happen either, but like you, I adore the concept.
Hii, you! I've been really horrible about keeping in contact with you, haven't I? I'm a very bad person.
*tackleglomps you back, nonetheless*
And I think Stubby Boardman = Regulus is my new pet cracktheory. (Dumbledore = Ron used to be, just for sheer crazy factor, but then after GoF I didn't like Dumbledore anymore, and after OotP I sort of hated him viciously, and I still like Ron, so... not so much with that theory, then.)
Nah, you're not a bad person. Nothing's ever going to convince me that you are.
I loathed Dumbledore after OotP. And by the time he died in HBP...well, I hated him so MUCH, with his smug "I am good and great and powerful and the wisest of all" business--and he kept saying that every two minutes--that I cheered when he died.
Stubby Boardman = Regulus is a lovely crack theory. And it works so beautifully. All you have to assume is that someone outsmarted Voldemort, and really, that's NOT hard.
I like the idea that the locket that Harry saw (and that Mundungus presumably stole) wasn't the Horcrux at all--it was a fake, left for the Death Eaters to find if they discovered the other fake in the cave and figured out who had stolen it.
The REAL Horcrux is in the Tonks' house. Regulus gave it to Andromeda before he died, because he knew that Andromeda, by marrying beneath her and by not being an Order member OR a Death Eater, was sort of...off the radar.
Thank you! I keep trying to make up non-mystical explanations for what happened to Sirius. Once I sent him crashing through a cloth replacement for a storeroom door. It took two fics to get him safely back to Remus, if I recall.
Here's another Bring Back Black fic, this one by pigwidgeon37:
I read it before over at ignipes' lj and it warmed my heart to see them all brought back like that. Remus and Sirius do deserve that happiness: be it with a female or not, but this was really touching.
This is adorable! Of course it goes to New Dehli. Duh. That actually makes infinite more sense than death by drapery. But that is an old bitterness. XD
And, by the way, I adore the theory that Stubby Boardman is Regulus. It is just too perferct. I even wrote a fic with it, I think. Regardless, I liked this, it was adorable.
The Deadly Drapery of Doom still bothers me. It's a stupid way to die.
Sirius gets sent to New Delhi becauase it's far enough away from England and Europe so that no one would be looking for him there. And also because it effectively cuts him off from the rest of his world. The "not able to call long distance in hospitals" is a recent bitterness. Hospitals work on the principle that everyone should know, mystically, where you are at all times. When you are shuttling back and forth between hospitals, as I did for the better part of a year...well, it's hard for people to keep track of where you are, even if they know you're alive.
Ooh. Where can I find the Regulus = Stubby Boardman fic of yours?
And I like the theory too, because it means that Regulus not only survived, but wasn't nearly the soft idiot that Sirius thought he was. In fact, he outsmarted everybody.
It's a really stupid way to die. Worse, though, it is a way to die that anyone who has ever read a fantasy/science fiction/comic book ever completely doesn't think is actually a way to die at all. When I first read about it, my reaction was: "Portal to another realm? Cool."
Not to mention, of course, it took me absolutely ages to figure out that JKR wanted us to think he was dead. If you are going to use fantasy tropes all over the place, when you twist one, it has to be obvious.
Double Indemnity is the fic that has Regulus as Stubby Boardman. I'm going to revise it a little (there are a few, minor errors) and post it on omnicular some time, so if you want to wait, you could.
I like it too. I feel like she had to do something with the fact that people mistook Stubby for Sirius, especially after Sirius died.

That was brilliant. I approve!
(If I still had the 'I aten't dead' icon in my rotation I'd be using it. XD)

Would you mind terribly if I posted this one, with credit, obviously, both to you and to nomadicwriter, whom I assume is the maker?
