Wow.

My poor Peter. And Regulus and ugh, the pain of the future confrontations.

Perfect explanation.

Thank you.

There's an as-yet-unwritten story in my mind about Sirius and his friends at Regulus's funeral. Sirius goes chiefly because Peter insists that Sirius needs to say goodbye. Peter, of course, is the one who needs to say it, because he's lost both a friend and the only person to whom he can talk about being a Death Eater. But he can't say that, so he has to get Sirius to go, so that he can accompany him.

I can see them all--Sirius being more or less in shock, James utterly furious and wishing they were anywhere but here, Remus trying to be comforting but feeling awkward, and Peter feeling hollowed out with grief, wanting to tell Sirius his brother's secrets and knowing that he can't, because Sirius wouldn't understand how a Death Eater could be a human being. (I can envision Remus accepting the friendship while thinking that Peter was being rather innocently naive...but I can't picture Sirius doing the same.)

Oh man. I can just feel how difficult it is for Peter to keep all of that inside. How he has to continue living this dual life. He's good at secrets. He was the perfect person to keep the Potter's secret...except for the fact that as good as he is with secrets, the Dark Lord is just as good at extracting them.

I would definetly read that one too. That letter from "RAB" in Half-Blood Prince was definetly my favourite. I'd give anything to see Regulus write the fuck-you letter to the Dark Lord. It was brilliant.

I'm a sucker for a story with a good title, and even more pleased when the story that follows is just as good. There's not a great wealth of thoughtful, solidly plot-driven fic in the fandom, so it's refreshing to find a writer who can accomplish it with such grace. Peter and Regulus are so....heartbreaking, because you approach them with a rare humanity. Just lovely.
The characterisation is beautiful. I love how tender and broken they are, how wonderfully conflicted.

"Small. Red-faced. Bit of black fuzz on the top of his head. Sleeps a lot, and cries at inconvenient times. Typical baby, really."

"And?" Regulus prompted, sure there must be more.

Peter's face lit up like the sun. "He's beautiful."

*shivers*
I loved the bit about mothers in fairy tales. And the entire first section, the description of Peter's appearance.

I've friended you, by the way. I'm Kate. :)

I love getting reviews like this. Thank you. I thank you especially for giving a story involving Peter a chance. So few do that.

It was a hard story to write, for I had to write them both as the young men they were and as Death Eaters, and still make them sympathetic. I'm glad that worked.

And thanks! Do you mind if I friend you back?

You're so very welcome.
Please, friend away. Making new fandom friends is always so exciting! (If you're kind of a dork, like me.) :)

That's okay. I'm kind of a dork myself. Or at least a nerd.
