I can't decide if that's stretching to the limit or just damned genius. Either way, the last bit about Marcus Welby/Marcus Belby is too just too punny.

I can't decide how much to believe the Damocles bit either. But I do think that Marcus Belby/Marcus Welby was intentional.

The man who co-founded Borgin and Burke's is named Caracatus Burke. The inventor and father of the twins in Chitty Chitty is named Caracatus Potts. Say it fast. Crackpot. Which isn't far off being a fool--or, you'd say in England, a berk.

And wasn't it Ian Fleming who wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?

yes - giggles - the crackpot who loved me!

And Mary Norton wrote Bedknob & broomstick - (she wrote the borrowers in case you hadn't) but the similarities amused me - ian fleming being so renowned for the spy stories.

am really glad you are hapy to have the book - sorry it took so long! 10 days after publication - shocking.
