I'm in tears now. That was just beautiful. Seeing snippets of those last years through the eyes of Regulus Black's portrait, of all things, was a brilliant idea, and wonderfully executed. I adored his voice, and I could completely feel how horribly helpless he thought himself.

Sirius and Remus were perfectly characterised, as ever, and Tonks was honestly too cute for words.

Random note: Have multiple writers used 'Lavinia' for Mrs Black's first name? I have, and you just did, but I'd never seen it before.

thistlerose is the only other person I know of who uses "Lavinia" for Mrs Black's name. (It's a weirdly serendipitous name for her; one of the meanings of "Lavinia" is "purity.")

You bring new meaning to the word beauty. I've read many fics but I haven't read one as strange and wonderful as this one for quite a long time.
