I like it, too, and I've never opened the books; what I know about Harry Potter comes entirely from the movies. Nevertheless, this is weirdly plausible - particularly the hidden ineffectiveness of the basilisk fang. [It's a good point: Tom Riddle wasn't soaked when the book went in the loo, why would he be hurt by something puncturing its pages? It's not like the book has a circulatory system...]

If a quibble is necessary, some sentence ought to be tossed in about allaying Hermione'suspicions [if any; the change in Harry's personality was very gradual indeed].

Well done: when watching future movies I'll have this in the back of my mind henceforth, I'm sure...
