Four More Queerditch Pub Ficlets

May 23, 2005 01:04

Evening round. Still on the mythology theme. The stories remain very gen. Two are pure gen, one is genslash (the couple is clearly a couple, but nothing graphic is described), and there's one homosexual kiss.

Wah. So sad, especially the one with Sirius being named.

Aww. I'm sorry. I really have to work on writing comedy more.

Well, it's still really good! It's just sad, too.

Enjoyed them all, but I've always been a hopeless lover of the Orpheus myth, and that just ripped my heart out. And then the Naming of Sirius did precisely the same thing all over again. ::sniff::

Awww. I'm sorry that your heart got ripped out. Especially by the Orpheus one. I really did want Remus to get his heart's desire--Sirius, and an end to his lycanthropy--in that. (Remus does not have enough good luck in canon.)

I came for the Snucius, and stayed for them all. I loved them. I really REALLY loved the naming of Padfoot, it was so filmic, could just see him suddenly becoming a dog. (the clothes thing really bothers me - does it you?) and it was just amusing to have him suddenly transform. I wanted to hug him.

And the Snucius! Different again! I love the way people perceive their relationship! HOpe you write more of them.

Wonderful, and I apologise for not commenting earlier!

Yes, the clothes thing bothers me, but it's clear that clothes transform along with the Animagus. When Peter's transformation as Scabbers ends abruptly in the Shrieking Shack, he's definitely dressed--PoA mentions that he wipes his face with his sleeve only minutes afterward. In GoF, in the chapter "Padfoot Returns," Sirius is wearing shabby grey robes when he changes back to human form. And Minerva McGonagall transforms from human to cat and back again for the benefit of her Transfiguration classes. I don't think she'd do that in front of kids if it stripped her naked.

I haven't really figured out how I see the Snucius relationship--if I see it the way it is in the ficlet, or if I see it differently. I need to think about it.

And I'm glad you enjoyed them!

Ooh, I love the Orpheus/Eurydice one. So creepy, especially Remus being confronted by the Peters. But you made it happy in the end! So, okay, it didn't end exactly like the myth. And for some reason, "psychopomp" brought up The Sandman for me.

Loved the rest, as well, especially the last story.

I never liked the ending to Orpheus and Eurydice. So in this case, I decided to fix it.

I think Anubis--the unnamed guide of the dead in the story--does appear in Sandman in Season of Mists as part of the Egyptian delegation negotiating for possession of Hell.

And thank you! Glad you liked them.

In fact, a "psychopomp" does appear in The Sandman: Worlds' End, in the Cluracan's Tale. Which is why it reminded me of it.

Whoa! You're output is amazing. I'm bookmarking this, as I have a few other recent fic posts, to read when I have time to pay attention to them. Thanks for being a Writing Queen!
