Four Queerditch Pub Ficlets

I still have Easter eggs to do, and the end of the DvD commentary to On a Wing and a Prayer, not to mention my Peterficathon story, and oh, yes, possibly some non-fandom stories that I could actually sell. Not to mention reading and reviewing new fic as per starrysummer's post.

I love the idea in Mapmaking. Beautiful. I think 'here be dragons' would make an awesome tattoo as well.

I like Gold too. I have a page full of alchemical notes relating to Regulus. Alchemy is such a lovely metaphor.;)

Thank you very much. (I'm sure there probably is a tattoo, somewhere, that says "Here be dragons." I've never seen it but I'm sure it exists.

Well there's a saint Regulus and a Regulus cruise guided missile. ;)

'Antimony regulus ... added to copper is itself reduced from stibnite.' Ah yes, stibnite. Of course. Apparently Regulus and copper make a purple alloy. *eyes the alchemy sets on ebay*

And the roman letter transliteration of his name on one astronmy site says 'the dog of the lion' instead of 'the heart of the lion.' I thought that was rather conspiratorily funny.

Oh, man. These are like metaphor-stories - each one using an extended metaphor to illuminate a certain relationship (except for the Ted/Andromeda one, I think). The last one really freaked me out, though. Yikes.

I think that the Ted/Andromeda one was a failure. I tried something, but it didn't work. Oh, well, maybe next time I'll get it right.

I'm glad that the last one freaked you a bit. (Can you imagine being in a family that considers Bellatrix GOOD? Yikes, indeed.)

The way you're re-constructing the house of Black through your fic is marvelous; they seem so much more real to me as you provide a backstory to their actions and detail their thinking processes.

MAPMAKING

Remus always considered the cartography he and Sirius did together to be the real Marauder's Map; a tongue drawing latitude and longitude down a tan neck and across a muscular chest, a fingertip's brush over feet, calves, thighs; an eager mouth exploring things and areas that should be marked "here be dragons."

That is so sensual and it's perfectly written.
