Wow. Just... wow. And nice run-on sentences. I find run-on sentences are good at conveying urgency and franticness, as well as insanity sometimes.

I love that one paragraph SO much. I keep coming back to it, even when I'm not rereading the story in its entirety - just when I need a good strong dose of real contrition, real desperation, and real fraternal love. *sigh* This entire chapter is just gorgeous, but that paragraph is one of my favorite parts out of any story.

Thank you so much. That's exactly what I was trying to convey, and you said it perfectly--"real contrition, real desperation, and real fraternal love."

And it's one of my favourite bits too...because it does work...and because it doesn't look like it took any effort at all.
