Hey, You may not remember, but we spoke a little bit on dachshunds. I was hoping you could help!? I have a wedding I am going to a wedding in June and I'm expected to take pictures. I was hoping you could direct me towards a decent lens that's about $800? I feel weird about commenting on your personal journal, but I'm so confused what would be best. These are the two lenses I'm looking at (for a D50):

I am not really familiar with Nikon, as my husband and I both shoot Canon... actually both of those lenses look really good. I would say get both of them if you could. :P
Or, if you could find a lens with a focal length of about 15-80mm, then I'd suggest something like that. SInce your camera isn't a full frame camera and will crop, you probably will want something a little wider.
Dig around a little, but I'd suggest something that goes pretty wide, like 15 or 17 mm and zooms in to about 80mm. That probably would serve you best! I wish you lots of luck. :) :)
Hello, I'm a huge photography buff too. My Uncle is a professional Photographer, he actually won the Alvin L. Friedman Award. With all the years of being around him taking photo's I've become more and more into it.
Your photo's are simply stunning, I can't think of another word for them. Amazing work!

35-70mm f/2.8D AF Zoom Nikkor
80-200mm f/2.8D ED AF Zoom Nikkor
