You, my friend, have just created the Tim I have longed to write. Because as much as I hate to admit it, I can not write Tim like that. It's easy to write Tim brooding, but it's hard to write Tim brooding correctly. :)
Oh Tim, Honey, no. *hugs him* He's trying so hard to shut it out, but your subconscious is not really something you can escape. And given how scary and freaky and Timmish his conscious mind is, it's not really surprising that his subconscious would be all kinds of sneaky and evil too. But really, to have Kon show up in his dreams, and then shove all of his failures and fears and losses in his face, while maintaining a perfect Kon-voice. I can't think of much his subconscious could add to make this worse for him. Kon making friendly banter about how he's dead, and about how one day even Batman, despite all his training, despite how he's one of the few people left Tim should be able to rely on, will die, and there will be nothing Tim can do, and this looming future Tim has as Batman that he's always tried to avoid, but which seems to keep creeping closer and closer all the time, and all the other friends Tim will one day (fail) not be able to help and ow. Oh. I'm totally broken in return by your excellent feedback and yesyesyesyesyes, I love OYL Tim. I suppose lots of fangirls are uber-anti-OYL, but to me it adds a necessary depth and just . . . yes. I hate how much he's hurting from everything, but it's giving us so much of who Tim essentially is.
And yes, his subconscious would be just that viciously exact at him and God, I adore you because you so completely get it.

I love YJ!Kon and Johns' growing pains twist on him, so I'm insanely flattered and pleased that's how he appeared here.

Thank you so much and I have a few more things coming up that are sitting on my hard drive waiting for me to decide they're ready. *coughs*
Tim breaks my heart so hard, so I'm uber-pleased (in a band-aid giving way) that I can keep that part of him in fic.
