This must be the song Jack hears faintly on the edge of his soul--What is the poetry month? I'm trying internet in the morning becos I am physically trashed right now. Poetry makes life easier somehow.

I love people who can memorize and quote the beautiful words. My first experience was an uncle who could just make up little bits and pieces on the spot, through to college and a 10 hour canoe trip with the most charming individual who started with Casey at Bat. Amazing life I have enjoyed, becos someone said listen to this. Had an old East Texas professor, taught Shakespeare...now there's an accent picture for you--him reading the words of Shakespeare...just luscious.

Whatever tis, thanks for sharing. This one is particularly fetching.

Exactly what I thought when I heard it, recited by the instructor of a course and gallery talk at the Getty Villa on Sunday, all about Myths & Monsters (Scylla/Charybdis, Medusa, etc.etc.).

I think you're right that poetry somehow makes life easier. It's almost like painting with words, and art is the essence of what makes us human, I think.
