Backstory Drabble 17: 'Dear Departed' (J/E etc. - G)

Nov 17, 2009 17:36

This one, though it's more sweet than bitter, really does qualify for the current drabble challenge prompt, 'The Dead'. 150 words, set at Shipwreck Cove, with thanks again to hereswith for looking it over.

17. Fathers and sons, fathers and daughters - Jack and Teague, Elizabeth and Weatherby. )

backstory drabbles, potcfic, jack-elizabeth, mini_nanowrimo

Oh geez louise, that last line is utterly drop dead fine. That is to say, so sweet that Elisabeth would include her father in this very very sweet moment. And that Jack would be so dear about it. Just darlin', darlin'!

This is so sweet! There's something very cozy about this scene of Jack, Teague and Elizabeth.

Aw, what a nice family moment. Nothing like having your loved ones around when you decide to take time out and remember the ones that aren't there anymore. I like how you describe her as "wistful" rather than sad. It seems like she's accepted her father's death and is recovering from all the horrors that happened to her, although she still misses him greatly, as well she should.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. I don't think one ever stops missing those that are gone, though life goes on and the pain grows less in time.
