It's interesting relationship -- even TnT thought so, though they didn't do more than tease us with it. Thank goodness for fanfic!

And kudos to them for it! We wouldn't have nearly so much to write about, if everything in the movies was 'cut and dried'.
I've always agreed with the idea that it pays to leave something to the reader's imagination.

That's what it looked like to me, too. Great scene in the movie. I just love CotBP.
