I don't wanna be critical, and maybe something else is going on on your end, but Gallery should be waaaaaaaaaay faster than this.

Gallery? or the Zenphoto stuff I linked to in this entry?
... but yeah, I was using most of our bandwidth over night gathering (and sharing) anime torrents, so that might be the issue.
