(My impulse was to use corporation-speak and title this, "heat wave post-mortem," but there's all sorts of reasons that was a bad idea.)

End result of heat wave: I saved my 3 animals, 3 friend's friend's cats (including one sickly cat) and 2 animal shelter's guinea pigs from heat exhaustion, at a cost of 3 partially or fully waterlogged area rugs
