Ornaments and Stockings, Oh My!

Jul 01, 2012 20:37

So I mentioned about a month ago when I posted my Beholder ornament, that I've been making Christmas ornaments and stockings to sell at an upcoming convention. I'm way behind on taking pictures of everything, but I thought I'd show off a few more items in my inventory.

First up, we have a Harry Potter stocking and matching ornaments.

Are those glowing crystals? I've been looking for something like that to put on top of a staff for a frost mage costume. Do you sell them or have tutorials?

It's not really a glowing crystal, I'm afraid. If you see in the picture, there's a kind of green globe next to the crystal. I was actually trying to make that glow for the picture, but when I shone a flashlight at it, the light went through the globe into the crystal. It was such a neat affect, I photographed it that way.

Ah I see.

Well that leads me to another question. Where can I find crystals similar to what's in the picture? I can rig up an LED light under it, but all the ones I've found are either horribly priced or not in the right shape for a staff/wand.

I collected mine from various rock shops and kind of new age occult stores in Seattle. The bigger one was actually a gift from a friend, so I don't know how much it cost. Couldn't have been too much though, because I got it when we were in high school and had no money.

Thank you! I used to have an etsy store, but I kind of gave up using etsy after a while because nobody was buying. I figured I would give it another try after my convention, though.
