While I'm waiting for some file updates so that I can move forward on today's big project, I might as well start my 2008 "books read this year" notes.

I first read Captain Alatriste after reading CLub Dumas ,and then went back and read the first two Three Musketeers novels. (The third one, in English, is usually truncated to just the parts abotu the man in the Iron Mask.)

I really like him as an author.

Heh. Mary Esselman is a former colleague of mine. I have a handful of signed copies of that book... somewhere, that I've never read.

Sharing the Alatriste love. I've read all 3 in translation and thought the language was lovely, but then, I can't read it in the original Spanish :/

Lamentably the movie isn't out in the States, at least not yet - lamentably, 'cos yowza!

Mostly I thought the translation was fine, but there were a couple of places in the first book where it just felt awkward. Didn't notice it in the second book that I recall. Either way, great story which is only made better by mapping Viggo into it. =)

Got cut off before I finished - also, thanks for listing the vampire books. I'm always after more of those!
