Someone on #elbows has talked about his brother doing that. I can't remember who, but I suspect some elboid knows more about it.

It might have been. I have no recollection of who, I just remember reading it in the scroll.

Reading some of the updates, it seems it's time to start saving up now in order to have enough money to do all the bribing of policement and border guards that's necessary. ;)

Some of the team names are hysterical. That one definitely caused some roffling. XD I also like OB1 2 GOBI and Marco's Polo (driving a VW Polo, of course).

There's also the matter of dealing with random cops and their rigged breathalyzers. ;)

Is it safe?
No, of course it's not safe. We will be driving through some very remote places in wholly unsuitable cars with no support system.

i'm in. :) man, i'd love to do this in a 2CV or a trabant.

Y'know, I can't fix a car and I can't speak any of the languages along the route except for perhaps the London bit, but it still sounds like So. Much. Fun. Or the worst three weeks of my life, depending. =)

There's also the Rickshaw Run gearing up, and they're threatening London to NY on a Honda C90. I love it. XD

london -> NY? where is the challenge in that? ... oh, i see, that way around. OMG. oh no. not going to happen. that doesn't sound like fun to me, just insane. also, back-breaking. :)

the rickshaw run sounds like fun for people who can not only move when it's hot and humid, but actually race. that would not be me.

I'm not even remotely tempted by the thought of the London->NY thing. The inflatable raft down the Amazon? No thanks. The Rickshaw Run sounds like it could potentially be a lot of fun, but I'm still thinking "Mongol Rally!!!"

I've seen more remote places... I'd love to try this.

Plus, you've already got lots of experience with cars that fall apart if you look at them funny! ;)

(groan)

Tell me about it... blowout on my way to work today. Both front tires had only 4K miles on them, cost $225 each, and are worn completely through on the inside edge (suspension problem).

Joy. That must've been a lot of fun.
