I am.
[He sips the water that has been on the table since the girl's arrival. The waiter will not come around for another few minutes, he's certain. He leans forward, interlocking his fingers and resting his chin on them.]

[Her fingers toy with the edge of the tablecloth, eyes down. It's along way before she reached where she was yesterday, thirteen years from now and a regal ruler, not a scared girl trying to learn how to sit on a throne and actually wield the power it held]

[Something small, a parfait, she did feel bad about him paying, ankles crossing and uncrossing]
... I don't...
[What if she said he was Zero, like she had this feeling... but she was wrong? That would be so rude, and... what if he was Zero? Did it matter? Would that change anything? ... only if she told people]

... You're.
[Fidget, biting her lip. No, that... she shouldn't act like that. She... could vaguely recall acting different, squared her shoulders, sat up straight, folding her hands in her lap, still the nervous line of her lips, but-]
I could not say for sure. I do not remember most of what I said yesterday. I could only say for sure that I know you are directly involved with the movement against Brittannia in a major way.

... I thought that was important.
[She doesn't remember much, it's odd that what she MOST remembers is how unhappy he is. That was the more important thing. If he was Zero... well, someone had to be Zero, right? There was always a man under the mask, and she, who had known the mask first, was not alarmed to discover the identity. No feeling of betrayal, or pain. And even then, she would doubt herself, her vague memories]
[He pauses, and knows then and there that she will tell no one of his identity. He will make sure of it later, encourage her to not tell Xing-ke; because unlike Tianzi, that man is not so forgiving. But for now, he looks away.]

... Ah. Just whatever you want is fine, I don't... have any money...
[Xing-ke handled that, didn't he?]
Reply
[He doesn't have much money, either, but ... really. He's not going to make her go hungry.]

[Her brow was still furrowed, concerned for her vague memories. Lelouch was... and Xing-ke... he...]
What... did you want to talk about?

What do you remember from yesterday?
Reply
[Her chin tucked down, nervous, and it was obvious]
Not... a lot...
[She was afraid to say. He was... Lelouch was... not just Lelouch. Right? Maybe? And Xing-ke... no, that couldn't be true, because she'd change it...]
Reply
...Please specify, Tianzi.
[He sees her tension, her anxiety.]
No matter what you know, you will not be hurt. Nor will Xing-ke. I promise you that.
Reply
... You're not... just Lelouch. And Xing-ke...
[Gulp, eyes shift]
... And the war... ends...
Reply
He speaks again only when the waiter has left.]
Wars will always end. Nothing goes on forever.
[That can refer to Xing-ke, too. But he doesn't mention Xing-ke; that is a sore subject, and not as important as the other topic.]
...If I am not Lelouch, then who am I? [Probing. He doesn't want to give away anything if she doesn't remember it.]

Think it really matters.

[It is nice that she thinks it doesn't matter; but he cannot be too certain. He needs to hear her tell him what she knows.]

And that you are not happy.

So you know, then, that--
[A pause. Softer, he murmurs:]
...I see. So you ... remember that, as well.

...It is not my primary concern.

[No, she wouldn't tell. It wasn't hers to tell, and she'd learned it so unfairly...]
... it's still sad, I guess.
