We're curious how the government works in Kintostown.

More or less like most any other town in the Wulfenbach Empire, there's the local lord that's the leader, and a town council that's appointed to help supervise and run the town, and keep everything in check.

As well as send reports back to Wulfenbach, too.

I do not know if this remained when the town was taken over, I ran into two of the council members fleeing when I first found out about the takeover.

We were interested in the non-crisis situation. And that seems like a fairly reasonable way of running things.

I wasn't sure, so.

It kept the town running really well, to be completely honest, really effective, a sort of check and balance system that kept itself in check. I mean, the Lord has certain powers over the council--control over the Clanks, city defense, and he has the ability to appeal laws to the council.

The council runs day-to-day events, the courts, so on and so forth, and law enforcement within the city, as well as trade negotiations (although that usually requires the Lord or at least an of-age member of the House, depending on what sort of negotiations are being done).

How do you keep your leg powered?

Oh, that's easy.

It's a self winding system, so long as the chain keeps turning, it keeps winding itself, and as a back up, it winds as I move as well. If I bend my leg, the quiet clicking you might hear over the ticking is it winding up the backup system.

Of course, if my drive chain breaks, I end up having to limp awkwardly until I can get it replaced.

Gosh, that's neat.

And it's so pretty, too.

Heh, thanks.

And it is, at that. I always try to have a brass chain to keep it all matched and gold colored.
