He wanted to bury the story so he doesn't have to deal with it.

i disagree. He announced when all the republicans were flung to the far four corners of the earth during a recess so they couldnt unilaterally condem the choice. This way the people get to find out about her and not through the oppostions screaming.

Based on what I've seen of Sotomayor, I am Sotonotimpressed. He could have done better, but affirmative action is the way the Democrats do business.

Unless of course the affirmative refers to gay, then it's just not politically convienient.

Well, yes and no. Ending discrimination and ensuring equality is one thing. Getting a job over a more qualified candidate solely because of my gayness is not how I choose to play the game.
