I'm working on a sculpture that a local shop wants to place on consignment in their space. That is encouraging, but the deadline draws near. I have to work and work and work on this thing. Here is the current state of affairs:
I don't have anywhere to put an industrial sewing machine!
Especially not now that I bought another home-sewing machine. For teaching purposes. Of course. You know how these things go.
I did relocate a couple of pieces of furniture to the sewing room to provide support from about 7:00 to 2:00 relative to me as I sit at the machine, and ran one line of stitching this morning before meeting my client at 10, and it worked SO MUCH better. Not ideal, but doable. Which is great because I love this woman (she's an artist in metal and glass, and awesome) and didn't like disappointing her by backing out.
Good luck with your work (of the out of house and in house kinds both). Deadlines are good for me, I know, but that doesn't make them less stressful!
Looking forward to seeing this thing in action. Looks and sounds great so far.
Ooh I'd like to see Fiona Apple, too. I have a few of her albums thanks to a friend who pawned them off on me, but I only know a couple of her songs really. I've always loved "Criminal". And Chris Isaak! I'm still sad I missed a show he did right here in town about a fifteen years ago. My old roommate and his girlfriend went and he told me it was phenomenal.
P.S. I hear you. There are no less than about five shows coming up that I want to go to and I'm not sure if I can afford ANY of them.
I just missed Brandi Carlile, and now I'm being asked to see Rachael Yamagata - on a work night. Bah! I may take off work, not sure yet. Chris Isaak is coming in November, and I'm trying to decide if I should spend money on that. I'd love to see him. Money, who needs it? Me!

Oh, and: industrial sewing machine. Just sayin'. Of course, I'm a man who looks for reasons (excuses?) to buy new tools.
